Saugeen Dry Stone Festival attracts people from U.S. and England

Nearly 2,000 people took part in the Saugeen Dry Stone Festival, from Aug. 15 to 17, from as far away as England and parts of the U.S.
A hardcover book, filled with photographs of the Saugeen project, has been published by Menno Braam. Entitled Building Walls and Workers for the Future, it contains history of Saugeen First Nation #29, background on the project and images of the men and women involved with the project. The book may be purchased online at http://gfl.me/x2By. Proceeds go directly to the Saugeen Amphitheatre Rejuvenation Program.

Saugeen dry stone project about building walls and workers

The largest dry stone project in North America is underway at Saugeen First Nation #29 community, outside of Southhampton.
The new dry stone teepee is a memorial built by the men in remembrance of the missing First Nation women. It will be circled by a garden and planted.

Dry stone course completes inspiring project at Saugeen

First Nation amphitheatre restored and celebrated.
The first dry stone course at Landscape Ontario home office in Milton drew ten people. In photo students test themselves on the wall, which they had built the previous day in the instructional part of the course, only to tear it down the next day and build it again to be tested on what they had learned.
