I know all of you are being hit hard by escalating insurance costs, less coverage and higher deductibles. Many of you in the Snow business are having trouble even obtaining insurance coverage. The issue is serious. Landscape Ontario is involved in extensive government relations activities guided by a firm called Earnscliffe, however we need your push and your energy to get the message across to your local MPP. We are offering three possible legislative solutions.

Local politics works. Together we can effect change. Here is what we need you to do:

Write or visit your local MPPs to let them know how your business is being affected by escalating insurance costs. Simply tell your story. Below you will find a guide to what should be included in that letter or visit. We have resisted writing a template letter because we have been told that form and template letters stimulate form and template responses. Instead, copy the letter posted here and fill in your own story in the highlighted areas. You can find a list of MPP contacts here

Consider using Twitter to raise awareness for the insurance crisis. Most MPPs use Twitter. Write your tweet and tag your MPP as well as those listed in the Twitter Guide posted here
.

Here is a list of Twitter handles for each MPP.

Please join me and LO’s Snow and Ice Management Sector Group in this important campaign! Together, we can make a difference.
