Golden Horseshoe Chapter: A beacon of community and commitment

Their efforts are perhaps best exemplified by the annual Gear up for Spring (GUFS) conference and trade show, held at the Ancaster Fair Grounds. This event, a highlight for many in the landscape industry, is a testament to the board's meticulous planning and execution. It brings together suppliers, contractors and industry professionals for a day of networking, learning and preparing for the busy spring season. The chapter board members leverage their professional networks to ensure the event is well attended and successful. Gear up for Spring 2025 will take place on March 25.
Another beloved tradition made possible by the board's dedication is the annual Chicken Roast. This event offers a more casual atmosphere for members to connect, enjoy good food and celebrate the spirit of community within the chapter. The Chicken Roast provides a relaxed, family-friendly cookout, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among members.
Beyond these flagship events, the Golden Horseshoe Chapter also demonstrates its commitment to giving back to the community in significant ways. The success of their golf tournament this past summer yielded a generous $3,000 donation to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton. Proceeds of $3,000 from the Chicken Roast were donated to Food Banks Canada on behalf of the event sponsor, Greenhorizons Sod Farms.
In July 2024, the Golden Horseshoe Chapter broke new ground by hosting its first-ever Touch-a-Truck event. This exciting community initiative featured 10 participating companies showcasing their impressive trucks and equipment. The event also included a special appearance by the Burlington Fire Department, adding an extra element of excitement for attendees. Touch-a-Truck provided a unique opportunity for families to get up close to heavy machinery, learn about the landscape industry and interact with local professionals. The event further underscored the chapter's commitment to engaging with the broader community and promoting the industry in a fun and interactive way.
The Golden Horseshoe Chapter's consistent success and high level of functioning is a direct result of the extraordinary efforts of its board members. Their unwavering dedication, creativity and collaborative spirit are what make the chapter such a vital and vibrant part of Landscape Ontario, and a true asset to both the industry and the community.
