The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced the approval of a minor use label expansion registration for Dipel® 2X DF Biological Insecticide for control of box tree moth on boxwood in Canada. Dipel® 2X DF Biological Insecticide was already labeled for use on a wide variety of crops in Canada for control of many caterpillar pests.
This minor use project was submitted by Ontario as a result of minor use priorities established by growers and extension personnel. Box tree moth was also the subject of an emergency use approval in spring 2019 in response to the first outbreak of box tree moth in Canada.
The following is provided as an abbreviated, general outline only. Users should be making pest management decisions within a robust integrated pest management program and should consult the complete label before using Dipel® 2X DF Biological Insecticide.
Crop(s) | Target | Rate (grams per hectare) | Application Information |
Boxwood | Box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis) | 560 - 1120 | Treat when larvae are young and actively feeding on exposed plant surfaces. Repeat applications at an interval sufficient to maintain control, usually 7 days. Use sufficient volume to ensure thorough coverage. |
Do not apply or allow drift of Dipel® 2X DF Biological Insecticide to other crops or non-target areas. Do not contaminate off-target areas or aquatic habitats when spraying or when cleaning and rinsing spray equipment or containers.
Follow all other precautions, restrictions and directions for use on the Dipel® 2X DF Biological Insecticide label carefully.
