Landscape Ontario and the University of Guelph are proud to host scheduled visits to the trial garden sites in Milton and Guelph for this year's Trial Garden Open House.

Highlights include:
  • Large container trial comparing the performance of annuals in containers vs. the landscape.
  • A large multi-year perennial trial has been planted with more than 160 entries.
  • Pollinator research garden has also been planted to compare native pollinator activity on exotic and native plant species.
  • Usual landscape trial for various annuals and our ongoing shrub and hydrangea trials.
Landscape Ontario site:
Pollinator Garden Trial, University of Guelph/OMAFRA/LO
How can homeowners best support pollinators? This stop on the tour pits plots of popular native and non-native ornamentals against each other to see which flowering plants truly attract the most honey bees, butterflies, and native bees. Check out the contenders, and see which plants get the most action!

Guelph trial site:
There will be an optional self-guided tour of the turfgrass research facilities. Social distancing must be maintained throughout the 700 m walking path.

NOTE: During this transition year, moving from the old GTI to the New, the Guelph trial garden's display will only include annuals planted into the landscape. The container and perennial trials will only be on display at the Landscape Ontario - Milton site.

IMPORTANT COVID-19 MESSAGE
Both sites feature a large, outdoor open space that is adequate for social distancing. Masks are required. Please register online before visiting the site and check-in at the registration desk once you arrive to provide contact information for tracing purposes.
