LO member benefit: Telephone legal advice
Available to all Active*, Associate and Chapter Associate members
Access to this service is included as a small fee in your annual LO member dues.
What is the service?Unlimited telephone legal advice.
Access to a panel of experiences lawyers available to assist you and answer your questions.
How does it work?If you require legal advice, call the number provided in your membership renewal/new member package.
Provide the call centre with your business name, your name, and your policy number.
The call centre will book a time that works for your schedule where an experienced lawyer will call you back.
Where is my policy number?You will receive your policy information by mail once you have renewed your membership, or your new membership application has been accepted.
When can I use the service?The service is available seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to midnight.
The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in emergency situations.
How often can I use the service?There is no limit to the number of calls you make, or the duration of your call.
What kinds of questions can I ask?There is no limit to the type of questions you can ask, but here are some sample categories:
- environmental issues
- employment and staffing issues
- succession planning
- mergers and acquisitions
- accounts receivable
- contract questions
- tax-related inquiries

*Active consists of: Member, Professional Member, Certified Professional Member, Sole Proprietor Member. This benefit does not apply for Introductory, Individual, Student, Teacher or Media membership categories.
