Small Businesses Act starts Jan. 1
The Supporting Small Businesses Act should result in 88 per cent of private-sector employers in Ontario being exempt from paying the Employer Health Tax.
The exemption will increase from $400,000 to $450,000 of Ontario payroll, saving most employers up to $975 every year.
Of the 60,000 small employers paying less EHT, more than 12,000 will no longer pay the tax, and will save the cost of filing an Employer Health Tax return.
