Six more counties infested with Pine Shoot Beetle

Based on a Pine Shoot Beetle (PSB) trap survey done this spring, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) recently added six new counties to the list of PSB quarantined areas in Ontario.

Lennox and Addington, Frontenac, Hastings, Peterborough, Haliburton and Parry Sound are now under PSB quarantine. CFIA should be consulted before any regulated articles are removed from these counties.

Regulated material includes: pine plants and plant products; pine Christmas trees (cut), pine nursery stock (includes all propagative parts), pine forest products with bark attached, pine bark.

Any questions or queries regarding these regulations should be directed to Ken Marchant, 519-837-9400, 2111 or Kevin Bureau, 519-837-9400, ext. 2151. A copy of the latest Pine Shoot Beetle Directive from CFIA is also available from the CFIA at the numbers above or the Landscape Ontario office at 905-875-1805.
