Research paper named best published
Two horticultural researchers received high accolades recently from the Canadian Society for Horticultural Science (CSHS) for one of their published research papers.
Drs. Glen Lumis and Calvin Chong were awarded the Plant Products Co. Ltd. Award from the Society for their paper on “Paper mill waste and other organic by-products in pot-in-pot substrates,” published in the Canadian Journal of Plant Sciences (80:669-675) in 2000 and on page 26 of this magazine.
The award is presented each year to the paper judged to be the best published in the Canadian Journal of Plant Sciences in the area of floriculture and ornamental horticulture in the previous year.
“On behalf of the Society, I offer my congratulations on a fine piece of research and an exemplary contributions to the Journal,” says Merv Pritchard, chair of the CSHS Publication Awards Committee.
The award was presented at the CSHS Awards Dinner, July 10 at the OVC Lifetime Learning Centre, University of Guelph. The dinner was held as part of the Society’s annual meeting, July 8 to 11 in Guelph, Ontario.
