Scott Hineman

Scott Hineman

Born and raised in the heart of beautiful Prince Edward County, Scott Hineman began his career in the automotive sector, where he spent over 20 years growing from a temporary employee to shift supervisor and ultimately production manager.

The economic downturn of 2008-2009 marked a turning point in his career, opening the door to a new path in human resources.

Since 2009, Hineman has worked in HR roles across a wide range of industries and company sizes — from startups to organizations with over 1,200 employees, in both unionized and non-unionized environments.

Hineman’s journey has been shaped by adaptability, curiosity and a strong belief in the value of people. In early 2020, just as the world changed with the onset of COVID-19, Hineman made the leap into the landscape industry — starting a new job without handshakes or seeing the faces of my new colleagues. Hineman was fortunate to join a well-established and respected company that has since become an integral part of his professional life. This year, Hineman took another exciting step forward by joining the ownership team. There’s still so much to learn and that fuels his passion every day. If there’s one lesson he’s carried with him throughout his career, it’s this: people are the cornerstone of every success. How we treat one another can change everything — a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly.

George Urvari

George Urvari

George Urvari is the kind of guy who can take a messy income statement, a struggling crew, or an underperforming business and turn it around. As co-founder of Knowledge Tree Consulting, Oriole Landscaping and Solid Space Construction, Urvari has spent over 40 years building two of Canada’s top award-winning design/build firms. His companies have racked up major accolades, including Ontario’s prestigious Casey Van Maris Award and Dunington-Grubb Award for innovation and excellence.

But Urvari doesn’t just build great landscapes, he builds great businesses. For more than 20 years, he’s been a sought-after consultant helping construction and trades companies across Canada, the U.S., and Europe streamline operations, boost profitability, and rethink the way they run. His tools? Proven frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix, Kaizen Philosophy and First Principles Thinking, combined with a deep belief that people, culture, and process are the real foundations of success.

A past president of the Landscape Ontario’s Toronto Chapter, Urvari is also a popular speaker at industry conferences. Known for his straight talk and real-world insights, he brings energy and clarity to every session. He holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto and lives in Toronto with his wife Julie, their two kids and their dog Bobbi. When he’s not transforming businesses, you’ll find him on the tennis court or golfing with friends — often turning those into strategy sessions, too.

Monte McNaughton

Monte McNaughton

Monte McNaughton served as Member of Provincial Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex from 2011 to 2023 and as Ontario’s Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development from 2019 to 2023. During his time in office, he championed record growth in skilled trades enrolment, increased female participation in trades, modernized employment laws, and introduced second-chance programs for individuals with criminal records. He also prioritized worker protections, health and safety, and dialogue with labour partners, becoming the first Minister of Labour to march in the Toronto Labour Day parade.

As Minister of Infrastructure (2018–2019), McNaughton led global consultations with private sector infrastructure leaders, expanded broadband and natural gas access, oversaw Canada’s largest subway expansion and invested in the renovation of Massey Hall.

McNaughton graduated from Westervelt Business College and completed executive programs at the Richard Ivey School of Business. He learned the value of hard work growing up in his family’s Home Hardware Building Centre in Newbury, Ont.

McNaughton currently serves as the executive vice-president at Woodbine Entertainment, where he plays a pivotal role in leading one of Canada’s largest development projects: an ambitious initiative to create a transformative “City Within a City” that will redefine the urban landscape.

In addition to his executive leadership, McNaughton is a corporate director, board advisor, public speaker, and the founder of MGM Strategies — a consultancy providing strategic advice to organizations.

McNaughton, his wife Kate and their daughter Annie split their time between Toronto and Mt.Brydges, Ont.
