The Ontario College of Trades is a self-governing body created to protect public interest by regulating and promoting Ontario's skilled trades and apprenticeship system. The College includes a 21 member Board of Governors, divisional boards and trade boards. If you are interested in continuing to update the standards for the horticultural trade, being involved in the development of apprenticeship training standards, curriculum standards, examinations and other related training and certification material, please consider submitting an application to sit on the horticultural trade board.

- Advising divisional boards with respect to the qualifications required for trade certification;
- Reviewing and/or recommending trade training and curriculum standards and other related training documents;
- Promoting apprenticeship as a method of acquiring skills for trades;
- Recommending strategies to promote apprenticeship completion rates; and
- Considering recommendations from employers in the trades and from other persons who work in the trade
Qualifications:
- Prospective employer or prospective journeyperson member in good standing of the College.
- Demonstrated experience in standards and examination development.
- Ability to acquire and apply knowledge of the skilled trades sector to recommend appropriate courses of action with consideration to the College's organizational direction and agenda.
- Leadership skills in task management and achievement of goals.
- Committed to making objective and impartial recommendations.
- Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience on an industry association, advisory committee, or Board of Directors in the public domain is an asset.
Terms: Members are appointed for a term not exceeding three years. While an individual may serve for more than one term, no one may serve more than six consecutive years.
