New fungicide now available for ornamental market

Growers, landscape and maintenance contractors in Canada can now effectively control Botrytis cinerea with DECREE, a new protectant fungicide from Tomen Agro, Inc. DECREE can be used on a wide variety of ornamental plants both outdoors and in the greenhouse.

Using Fenhexamid, classified as a "Reduced Risk" fungicide by the U.S. Environmental Pro-     tection Agency, DECREE prevents spore germination and penetration into plant tissue, when applied early in the disease's life cycle. DECREE has been used in the U.S. for the past 10 years to protect ornamental plants such as African violets, geraniums, petunias, poinsettias and roses.

DECREE does not adversely affect beneficial insects and is rapidly degraded into the soil. Tests also show there is minimal apparent spray residue after application. DECREE can be used with high, low or ultra-low volume spray equipment.
