What: Dr. Heping Zhu (USDA Application Technology Research Unit) and Mr. Randy Zondag (Ohio State University Extension) will be demonstrating a unique new sprayer design (Intelligent Sprayer) which has successfully reduced pesticide inputs by up to 70 per cent in US nurseries (e.g. Willoway, Sunleaf, Losely Nurseries). You’ve seen it at trade shows, now’s your chance to see it in action. This sprayer uses sensor technology to spray only where there is a target. Researchers will be demonstrating best practices in nursery spray application, including how to diagnose coverage and how to optimize label rates so each plant receives the same dose.
OMAF and MRA staff Dr. Jason Deveau and Jen Llewellyn will provide updates on research trials and best management practices for controlling diseases and insects.
