After the tendering process, and with in-kind support of supplies and services from the landscape industry, construction of the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park began May 19, with completion expected by mid-September.
The park will join the new Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre, which will open this summer at The Credit Valley Hospital, and will serve nearly two million people in the region. The Cancer Survivors Park will sit adjacent to this new facility, and provide a reprieve for the centre’s patients and visitors.
Along with funding from the Richard and Annette Bloch Foundation in Kansas City, Mo., the park will receive assistance from its project partner – Rotary International in Mississauga – which underwrote the initial expenses. The project serves as recognition of the Rotary Clubs’ 100th anniversary in 2005.
More donations are needed in the park’s completion, including in-kind donations of services or products. All “partners” will be recognized through signage at the park.
