BCLNA member recognized for environmental responsibility

Dean Rebneris of Thousand Summers Landscaping in Victoria, B.C. and member of the British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association (BCLNA) recently received a Drinking Water Stewardship Award from the CRD Water Department for his work in helping to reduce water wastage in the landscape industry.

Rebneris, operations manager for the landscape company and a Canadian Certified Horticultural Technician (CCHT), is responsible for maintaining irrigation systems for Thousand Summers' customers. While proper installation is very important for water conservation, Rebneris says the key is regular maintenance and monitoring, as well as using drought resistant and native plants and mulch to help conserve soil tilth and moisture.
