Trials & Tribulations of Running a Successful Business | Frank DiMarco
Frank DiMarco will give a brief summary of the trials and tribulations of running his company for the past 28 years. He will cover the importance of keeping good staff and keeping up with new trends. He will give ideas on how to deal with competitor's low bids and how to justify your contract price to potential clients. He will ask the audience if they are prepared for a disaster and give details of his experience with his own crisis. He will demonstrate the importance of having well paid skilled staff who are capable of taking over the day to day running of the business.

We will provide some hands on experience to allow the participants to get involved and share their ideas, as well as testing out various ways that positioning and aiming can affect a composition.

John Higo John Higo, TurfCare Products Canada
John Higo is a founding member of the Lighting Sector Group. He spent five years as Sector Chair and five years as Sector Board Rep. He is a member of the International Dark Skies Association and 10-year member of Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. John is a contributing author to IES RP-39 Recommended Practices for Landscape Lighting. He has taught college level courses in Landscape Lighting and is a Sector Group Liaison for the Electrical Safety Authority. John is also a member of the Association of Outdoor Lighting Professionals.
Frank DiMarco Frank DiMarco, DiMarco Landscape Lighting
Frank DiMarco is a Master Electrician, Lighting Designer and Irrigation Specialist. He is the owner and President of DiMarco Landscape Lighting, a division of Rainman Lawn Sprinkler Systems Ltd. and has been in business for 28 years. He has been the recipient of the Award of Excellence for his lighting designs and installations for the past 25 years, awarded by Landscape Ontario. Frank DiMarco helped develop the first Canadian Reference Guide to Landscape Lighting Standards. He is the founder and member of the Landscape Ontario Lighting Commodity Group. He is also a charter member of the North American Lighting Association, the AOLP (formerly LVLIA)
Carl Hastings Carl Hastings, Moonstruck Lighting Ltd
Carl has been involved in the Horticulture industry for 32 years. He started in Maintenance, worked in landscape construction, and has been involved in lighting for over 20 years. He began his career in lighting by digging trenches. Then move up to installing systems, servicing systems, designing lighting systems, selling lighting and then became partner in Moonstruck Lighting Ltd. He loves lighting and the way the industry is changing.
Conrad Monteiro Conrad Monteiro, Moonstruck Lighting Ltd
Conrad is a Certified Master Electrician and has been in the landscape lighting industry for 15 years.  He is part Owner of Moonstruck Lighting Ltd.
James Solecki James Solecki, Integra Bespoke Lighting Systems
James Solecki owns and operates four thriving lighting businesses in Muskoka and The Turks & Caicos. He started INTEGRA Bespoke Lighting in 1998 and has grown the business into one of Ontario's leading outdoor lighting systems companies. Focused on providing residential and commercial properties with green, environmentally friendly and dark sky friendly lighting systems James has carved a niche in the lighting industry.  James and his INTEGRA business was honoured with six Awards of Excellence from Landscape Ontario. INTEGRA has also been awarded "Company of the Year" in the Huntsville/ Lake of Bays Business Excellence Awards and received an Environmental Stewardship Award from the Muskoka Heritage Foundation. Realizing a need to vertically integrate, James expanded his operations by opening JSLDesign, an interior lighting design firm, and ventured into the realm of LED lamps, building the first successful complete line of LED lamps for outdoor lighting systems. James is active in his community, volunteering his time with many worthy causes such as the Lion's Club, Chambers of Commerce, School Parent's Council, the YWCA and others. He lives with his wife and two children in the "suburbs" of Port Sydney some of the time, and at his new home in the Turks & Caicos most of the time.
