WORKSHOP #1 - BACK TO BASICS AND STANDARDS
This session will be a visual and hands-on look at the practical side of landscape lighting. It will include a review of the Codes and Standards as well as best practices for connections, tree mounting, wiring and transformer mounting.

WORKSHOP #2 - DESIGN 101 - WHERE TO START
There are a few guidelines I use to design a lighting system. Often we see the reasons for landscape lighting as safety, security, function and aesthetics. By taking these queues from the existing landscape you can develop your lighting design to compliment the landscape and create beautiful scenes that satisfy all of the above reasons for lighting without being simply utilitarian. Often people say design is like art, each individual has their own idea of what looks good. This is true for an individual, but if you look at lighting design for clients, you have to appeal to a wider variety of opinions.

Lighting is one of the most important elements of any space, but often overlooked and neglected. This presentation features case studies of actual landscape lighting methods for creating lighting designs that will add night time appeal and enjoyment. Participants will be able to identify how lighting plays an integral part of the architectural design, and understand how to integrate the client's ideas to create sustainable, practical lighting design and installation.

LANDSCAPE LIGHTING SYSTEMS
Learn how to efficiently troubleshoot and diagnose problems with landscape lighting systems using basic tools and techniques. Look at some of the specialized tools available to you through your distributors and lighting manufacturers. Review proper wire splicing and the various types of connectors that should be used to ensure long life and dependable service from your installations.
