Sadly, Perry Molema passed away on December 22, 2012 as a result of injuries from a car accident. He is sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues. As a result of his lasting impression on those around him a parkette has been designated for his memory in his hometown of Chatham, Ontario. As a tribute to his love of nature, beauty and ponding some of his closest friends have teamed together and designed an interactive and integrated garden with a RainXchange system as its focal point. The hope is that this will be a place where family and friends of Perry can immerse themselves in his passion and remember, but also a sanctuary for those who did not know him to come and appreciate. A place for all people to enjoy, as well as add to the beautification and revitalization of downtown Chatham.
Your help is needed before September 23
The project will go before town council and September 23 and if enough funds are in place then, the build will start in late September/early October. If enough funds are not in place by then, the build will happen in the spring of 2014. The build will be located at the corner of William Street and King Street, downtown Chatham. The Memorial Garden will be built by Perry’s closest friends. The funds collected will be used to purchase rocks, gravel, permeable pavers, plant material, soil, mulch, etc. Most of the materials have been offered to us at cost or as close to cost as possible. All labour will be donated and all Aquascape materials needed for the build will be donated by Aquascape. Some of the funds collected will help maintain the memorial garden.
